On 15th August 2009, members and friends of LIHS
visited Whissendine Windmill owned by LIHS member
The day we visited was quite an historic day. The mill has
been a working mill for some time but driven by an engine.
Recent restoration work by Nigel has enabled it to run on the wind as originally intended. Nigel had worked up to the last minute to get it running for us. It was a splendidly sunny but windy August day and we were thrilled to see
the sails turning and driving the mill on this truely historic day. You can see them too in this short film shot on the day.
More information about the mill together with some still photographs can be seen by going to our PAST VISITS page.
